Welcome
to the 2006-2007 school year! This year is a milestone for
Our Lady Queen of Peace School, as it is the 20th anniversary
of the founding of the school. Twenty years ago Sister Antoinette
Peltier’s dream of a Catholic school for Brazoria County,
became a reality. The first enrollees were faith-filled pioneers
who shared the desire for a Catholic education, knowing the
conditions were not optimal. Combined classes, few materials,
and no permanent location, were just a few of the odds faced
by early teachers and families.
Catholic schools have always been built on faith, first. It
is the never-ending struggle, for most Catholic schools, to
keep pace with modern demands and the means to fulfill those
needs. The challenge today is to keep the focus on an education
that develops a child’s mind, heart, and spirit. Unfortunately,
financial challenges have plagued most Catholic schools. The
desire to make a Catholic education available to all students
is in direct conflict with the realistic cost of operating
such an endeavor.
At
Our Lady Queen of Peace School, sacrifices are made daily
to ensure the students enrolled at this school, receive an
education based on faith, first. We will continue to be “pioneers”
striving to give students a Catholic education, with God’s
help.
Our Lady Queen of Peace. . . Pray for us!
Blessings in Christ,
