Board of Trustees 2019-2020

The School Board of Trustees has regulatory and general supervisory authority governing the school. This includes the establishment of policies, evaluating the effects of the policy decisions, all fiscal responsibilities including approval of the budget and evaluation and selection of the Administrator. Brian Zielke, President, Chair of Executive Committee

Brian was born in St. Joseph, MI, and then at a young age, moved up to Sault Ste. Marie, MI.  After finishing high school there, he went on to attend Michigan Tech University in Houghton, MI and received a B.S. In Chemical Engineering.  He then took a leap of faith and moved to Lake Jackson, TX for full-time employment with Dow Chemical.  Within two years, Brian met a beautiful girl named Julie after mass at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, and they married in 2004.  They now have three amazing children, all of whom currently attend OLQP.  Brian has been active in the Church throughout his life, serving as an Altar Server, Lector, and Choir member, and also as Youth Director for the Knights of Columbus.  Being the son of two teachers, Brian has always been very passionate about education. As a member of the Board, he will strive to ensure that OLQP continues to deliver excellence in both Catholic and Academic education for families in our local communities.

Jennifer L’Hote-Gaston, Vice-President, Chair of Policy Committee

Jennifer was born and raised in Perryville, MO.  She attended the University of Missouri-Columbia, where she earned a B.S. in Biochemistry.  Following college, she briefly worked for Monsanto in St. Louis, MO before moving to Lake Jackson, TX following  her college sweetheart Ryan.  In 1999, she joined the Dow Chemical Company in Freeport, TX as a research chemist, and in 2000 she and Ryan were married.  Over the past 19 years of their marriage, she and her husband Ryan have assumed various research and development roles with The Dow Chemical Company, and which have provided them opportunities to live and work in Texas, New Jersey, Michigan, and finally returning them to Lake Jackson, Texas a little over 2 years ago.  Her most cherished souvenir from their time in New Jersey is their daughter Ava, and her most cherished souvenir from their time in Michigan is their son Ethan.  She currently is an Associate Director in Corporate R&D for The Dow Chemical Company based here in Lake Jackson, TX.  As someone who was born and raised Catholic, and attended Catholic school growing up, Jennifer is committed to ensuring the OLQP continues to be a vibrant and successful Catholic school serving the Brazoria County and its local communities.

Marcela Buentello, Treasurer, Chair of Finance Committee

Marcela was born in Cuidad Mante, Mexico, and moved to Brownsville, Texas while in elementary school.    She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering.   After graduation, Marcela joined Dow and has continued to work for Dow for the past 26 years.   Her experiences have included roles in Operations, EH&S and Maintenance.    Marcela is married to Danny Buentello and they have a daughter, Avery, who has been a student at OLQP since PreK3.   The family’s home church is St. Michael’s in Lake Jackson and are committed to a strong Catholic foundation that Danny and Marcela both were blessed with growing up.

Beth Symington, Secretary, Chair of Communications Committee

Beth was born and raised in Colorado, where she attended Colorado State University and earned a B. S. in Human Nutrition and Dietetics. She moved to Texas 30 years ago and made Lake Jackson her home. At that time, she also began attending St. Michael’s Catholic Church and has been an active member over the past three decades. She is currently involved in several ministries, including Baptism Preparation and the Altar Society, as well as serving as an Annulment Case Sponsor. OLQP has been an important part of her life since 1996, when her oldest child began PK3 here. She is the mother of three proud OLQP graduates. Beth has worked at BASF for 28 years and is currently the Learning & Development Coordinator for Laboratory Services. She has been married to her husband, Brent, for 13 years and they share five children—Sarah, 26, Ryan, 24, Jake, 24, Alissa, 23, and Grace, 20. In her personal time, Beth enjoys baking, gardening, and spending time with her family.   Knowing how valuable a Catholic education is in today’s society, we need to insure the continued growth and possible expansion of Our Lady Queen of Peace for future students.

Tricia Langner, Chair of Discernment Committee

Tricia was born and raised in Oklahoma. Twenty-nine years ago, she converted to Catholicism and has never looked back. She is married to a West Columbia native and has one daughter at OLQP and another daughter, an OLQP graduate at Brazoswood and one son in Manhattan. Tricia has a BS in Home Economics with a minor in Art. She and her family attend St. Michael’s Catholic Church, where she has served as President of the Women of St. Michael’s, chaired Mums & Mistletoe Market, facilitated several Lenten Day of Reflections, served as Respect Life coordinator, and directed 4 weekend retreats for women. She has a certificate from the Houston-Galveston Diocese for the Formation Toward Christian Ministry. As a former educator, quality education is important to her and since she loves Bible study – religious, quality education is a passion.
